First off, all of the ladies -Pat Thompson were funny at various points.
Maja – she was bougie with a little boughetto on the side. I think her $50 weave shops was indeed a smart move. She was frequently hilarious to me. I felt awful when her store was broken into, and she had money stolen from under her by that dumpy employee she fired. I also went bad for the distress she went trying to get her infomercial created. I thought it was a little random her constantly mentioning being on meds to deal with the other women. I was glad that her infomercial went well and that she along with Beautii and Mushiya carried both seasons back-to-back. I laughed when Pat showed up to her salon like she was going to a Walker, Texas ranger reboot audition, and Maja did a Karen on Karen move and tried to get police involved lol. I’m glad she went into real estate and has been successful ever since.
Dedra – unintentionally funny villain who looked like a comic book villain. She was sassy and messy…constantly! There were two things though that she did were foul to me the 1st season. Number one, coming to Mushiya’s “I Am Strong” event with a horrible attitude and a nasty, all about me spirit. Mushiya was right that Dedra was being totally selfish in that moment. The 2nd thing she did in retrospect that was foul was sending Maja that mugshot birthday cake. Come on now Dedra…that was low even for you! Once 2nd season came around, I have to say…she…started getting a little boring to watch. I didn’t understand the point of her trying to open up a beauty school that was completely finished nor completely paid off. She left the beauty industry pretty quickly after the show ended and now works with the elderly.
Beautii – Ironic that she named herself that since never mind lol. She was sexy, and attractive despite that ugly nose. She was the breakout star of the show. I really felt for her backstory as far as her baby daddy being incarcerated for most likely a long time if not a very long time (ugh Black men…Black men, Black men, Black men). Her son was/is handsome, and I loved her personality and energy the most of all the ladies. I hope her fitness clothing line was successful, and I’m glad she’s still a salon owner. Yay Beautii J.
Mushiya – She was my hands down favorite omg lol. Such a catty, bougie, sometimes sexy, condescending, grandiose narcissist Nigerian woman. I loved her LOL. She matched all the energy all the other women gave her
● Rightfully snatched up LaKenya when LaKenya threw weave in her face and told LaKenya to her face that she was a flip flopper.
● Never flinched going back and forth with Dedra aka Penis Face (LOL) and was being patronizing when she told Dedra she should be thanking God all of the ladies showed to her pipe dream beauty school launch party.
● Cut ties with Beautii after realizing Beautii was too hood to be around.
and
● Her evenly yoked friendship with Maja.
She also made a low-key jam with “Work Those Runway Curls.” That was a catchy and sexy song…“B word I’m walking…” LOL.
LaKenya – flip flopper with an overbite…all the ladies were correct about that regarding her. This girl basically used all of those women to some degree for her benefit as she was trying to get to their level, even though she’d never surpass any of them. To be frank, she was a non-factor. The only times she was entertaining to me were when she stood for herself towards Mushiya and Beautii, even though Beautii turned out to be right about her owning Beautii owing her a measly $250.
Pat – ugh what an embarrassing, older lady. She acted psychotic about Maja “stealing” her idea that she should have been smart enough to have had copyrighted if she really was afraid that someone else might take credit for it and become wealthy and famous off of it. That scene of her coming in to Maja’s infomercial location just to drop that gym bag with $2500 of bills with her not attractive face on it was an epic fail. I really hope that was a staged scene, and that she didn’t really waste $2500 of her own money to do that. I thought that was hilarious how her limo driver was purposely given the wrong directions when she thought she was going to be participating with the other ladies in that magazine photoshoot on the season/series finale. Her coming in at the event dressed up like a sleazy angel was corny. Everything about her was corny.
The best scene of that show was the “I Am Strong” event. That was wonderful seeing all those abused women getting a day where they could be pampered for free and just feel safe. The worst part of the show was that there was no reunion special for the 2nd and last season. I would’ve really enjoyed a 3rd season...just to see Dedra and Pat being enemies, Beautii and Mushiya being enemies, everyone beefing with Mushiya, Beautii and Dedra being frenemies before going right back to being enemies again, etc.
Honorable mention: why did no one mention this before!? LOL.
